360 on Moshe Seloko: BizKid

Ever met a man who speaks so gently yet in a powerfully endowed sense? Moshe Seloko denies not that his greatest strength comes through his articulation of words, all to drive revolutionary change.

He has been rated as “no less than excellent” by over thousands who have had opportunity to listen to him, both in the country and other cities he inspired in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban,(South Africa) Lusaka (Zambia), Amsterdam (Holland), Frankfurt (Germany), France and London in England.
The charismatic and warm Seloko has transformed ordinary people into extraordinary achievers by using his personal experiences, and his considerate review of others’ challenges, to build an understanding of what works, what doesn’t work, and why.

He is a celebrated speaker and never forgets the famous words of Sir Benjamin Franklin: ‘You sow a thought you reap an act, you sow an act you reap a habit, you sow a habit you reap a character, you sow a character you reap your destiny’
The University of Botswana graduate combines his first hand experience through travel and knowledge of Business in de-mystifying entrepreneurship and business ownership in every walks of life and industry.

He has a reputation as one of the best business-to-business speakers on the national professional circuit growing abroad.

Upon meeting the entrepreneur and Executive Director of a renowned Action Program BizKid at his offices in the Central Station in Gaborone, Moshe jokingly almost denies his identity. In a black contemporary suit, his love for coffee is immediately explained the minute the I entered the door to his office.

“Come in. How can I be of assistance?” he asked as he stirred down his dose of sugar in his tea cup. “Where can I find Mr Seloko?” I asked. A smirk on his face exposes him as he sits down and says; “Let me call him, who is looking for him, by the way?”

The conversation swiftly leads us to know how the influential  author and professional speaker has a great sense of humour; possibly remains unchanged as he deals with people almost every day being a mentor, business coach and trainer.

His first love Bizkid was launched in 2011 as a ready for action Program that aims at grooming prospect business leaders (aged 9-14) through teaching the basics of entrepreneurship. Bizkid encourages and nurtures entrepreneurship by affording students opportunities for priceless experiences to expectantly profile their futures.

Bizkid, he says simply helps children face uncertain future with certainty.

“This platform gives children the skills and knowledge to adapt and triumph over future challenges either personally or career wise,” Seloko mentions.

With today’s youth facing myriad of challenges, Seloko says it has become imperative to prepare them for the future.  “Ignoring all these looming signs by not acting will be a massive mistake.”

Among others he lists; rising unemployment, increasing poverty, deteriorating economic conditions, declining global trade, hiring freeze, lay-offs, reduction in salaries and reduced employee benefits as challenges of today.

“Most kids will graduate from school without the vital skills they need to face our uncertain world with certainty. We therefore need to come up with ways to help the situation before the economy sinks.”

His recommendation and business is providing a true entrepreneurial experience that will endow kids with the essential 21st century skills that develop from experiencing the entrepreneurial mindset.

This he says will go a long way in saving and securing future, opening up opportunities and setting up a great potential for economic growth.

“We have created each one of our Entrepreneurial Programs to help participants develop entrepreneurial ideas and to provide steps to take in the entrepreneurial journey

Both government schools and private schools benefit from this initiative.

“At the end of our programs, participants would have experienced the entire entrepreneurial cycle,” he tips in. The impact the program has on participants is vast – from inspiration and creating their own companies to understanding the relevance of being successful in life and academics.

As if that is not enough, Seloko bares his skills through regular writes of articles for the Witness Magazine, Business Insights (RSA), and Sunday Standard. He has authored audio books; The Entrepreneur; Be The One, Kick Your Excuses Good Bye, Change Is Inevitable, The Transformation, and the best seller book Introduced By The Gardner a book which insights on the importance and relevance of networking.

A father of three, Seloko is more than determined to change the status quo for the benefit of the future generation. He challenges the education system through his belief that the future depends on graduates who can start, run companies and create employment, invest and take the leading role in changing the ‘go to school, get a job’ mentality.

“We are in era of change, we need to be more challenged and be more hands on anything to do with business or entrepreneurship,” he urges.

For a man who has worked at Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) as a Lead Trainer for over year, Moshe has been able to note that businesses fail not because of lack of money but lack of understanding. He is of the notion that, in most cases business lacks the knowhow on balancing the most critical aspects of any business, being the entrepreneur, the idea and ultimately the market. “These three are like a traditional three legged pot, when one is absent, the whole business will fail.”

He says his inspiration to form Bizkid was to develop entrepreneual minds from a young age. “Cultivating such skills to young minds will instill problem solving ability and enhance their ability to solve social problems as marketable businesses,” he notes.

Bizkid continues to thrive and quickly becoming every parents dream for their child, locally and internationally. As a result Seloko has announced his interest to put it up as a franchise to interested locals. However, the process he says is still ongoing but ‘will eventually be viable and open to Batswana in all regions’.
